Some Quick Facts as of 2008: Population 396,000 32,000 Buddhists (8%) 262,000 Muslims (66.2%) 40,000 Christians (9.9%) 16,000 Born Again (4.1%) 56,000 Animists Others (15.5%) No Known Missionaries 90% Unreached Restricted Access Pray For Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah 27 People Groups 10 Least Reached Groups Pray for Malay and West Coast Badjau Brunei Darussalam means "Brunei, Abode Of Peace" but there is little real peace apart from Jesus Christ, here or anywhere!  Brunei is an independent, Islamic state colonized by England 100 years ago but given independence in 1979.  It is now ruled by the royal family under Islamic law. Spiritually, Brunei is indeed a dark country, with little apparent mission activity, especially among the Muslim population.  Christian missionaries are not welcome here.  The existing Christians are mostly tribal converts of earlier mission efforts and are not culturally in a position to make much difference.  Someone has to find a way to get in and stay in long enough to plant a culturally appropriate church movement among the unreached of Brunei...  Who? Our prayer for Brunei:  "Jesus, You shed precious blood for the people of Brunei.  Not many of them know it yet.  Please Lord, don't let it be wasted on them.  Will you prepare their hearts to receive the gospel?  We ask you to raise up church planting teams that will find a way to get in to Brunei and to share You with the Muslims there.  Lord, send workers to Brunei today!  Father, Jesus said You'd do whatever we asked in His Name, according to Your will.  Bless and encourage the existing church in Brunei, revive and empower it.  Save souls in Brunei, Father, and let a strong, reproducing church be planted among the Muslims there, in Jesus' Name.  Amen" [South East Asia Map] For more prayer info on Brunei's Unreached Peoples click here to the Joshua Project Website
