Missionaries Not Welcome |

Laos, like much of South East Asia, has suffered much from
political instability. Communist persecution of the Christians in the 1970's was
harsh and most Laotian Christians fled the country. Still, a tiny but strong remnant
remains faithful to this day. Today there is some freedom to share their faith, but
never in any public forum. The church is still suspected of being subversive, so is
always under scrutiny by the government.
Missionaries are not at all welcome in Laos. Creative entry
strategies are needed, but there is no doubt that God will provide a way for any team He
sends. Physical and cultural barriers keep almost 40 identified people groups
isolated from the best news they could ever hear. How can that message be
heard? Is there a man with God's heart and vision to see one of these groups reached
with the Good News?
Our prayer for Laos: "Oh Father, You are merciful and
kind, Your love knows no bounds. The many peoples of Laos need to know about Jesus
so they can experience Your incredible love for themselves. Satan has them pinned
down, is holding them captive, as You know. What can we do to set them free?
Jesus, have You got a man to send? A man You can use to win them for You?
Maybe Lord, there is a Laotian Christian somewhere that could take a team back and plant
churches there.
"Lord, the truth is that we have a hard time believing that
anyone from the West could ever live and work effectively in Laos. Give us wisdom
and faith to see it happen. Enable Your church to fulfill Your command and help us
to preach the gospel to every creature in Laos. Holy Spirit, fill the Laotian
Christians with power to witness and encourage them to be bold. Thank You, Oh Lord,
in Jesus' Name. Amen."
