The Musi Banyuasin are a last frontier people group geographically located on the equator just below the 1040 window in Indonesia. They live in the Musi Banyuasin district on the southern portion of Sumatra, one of Indonesia's main islands. South Sumatra appears to be a largely underdeveloped region ecomonmically and most likely culturally as well. It provides refuge for a vast array of exotic plants and animals.
The main commodities of the Musi Banyuasin district are rattan, resin, firewood, sawn timber and logs. Mining and quarrying products such as oil and natural gas are also found in the district as well as at offshore areas. The province also has various tourist attractions such as natural tourism, cultural and historical attractions. It has mountainous scenery with various flora and fauna, long coastal lines, rivers, lakes and unique and interesting multifarious traditions, arts, and cultures.
According to the people group information provided by The Joshua Project, of the 150,000 Musi Banyuasin, there are only 20 evangelical Christians. In their language there is no complete Bible, no New Testament, and not even any Bible portions. There is no Jesus Film in their language, nor any Christian radio broadcasts or audio recordings of the Gospel.
