Buol of Indonesia

Buol of IndonesiaThe 63,000 Buol people of Indonesia are mostly farmers or agricultural businessmen living in a somewhat remote area of North Sulawesi.  Their villages are scattered out, and there is not a lot of communication with the outside world.  Their lives are generally simple and not too much affected by the world outside.

The Buol are mostly Sunni muslims, but they follow a lot of animistic practices and rituals as well.  There are many struggles with spirits and forces that they have no control over, so they use dukuns (shaman or witch doctors) to try to appease spirits with sacrifices and chants.

There is no known outreach to the Buol, partly due to the remoteness of the villages.  There are some resources for evangelism, but nothing has been done to reach them lately.  The Buol for the most part live their lives with little knowledge of the gospel of Christ and few opportunities to know the truth.  There are no known believers, no churches, and no one focused on telling them the good news.

Pray for someone to go to the Buol and share the good news about Jesus with them in a way they can understand and accept.  Pray for resources to be available for church planters who would go to them.  Pray for the Lord to bring Buol people together into redemptive relationships with believers who can share with them.  Pray for dreams and visions that reveal God to the Buol and point them to the Savior.
