Gujarati In Malaysia

The Gujarati originate from Gujarat State in India.  There are at least 1.6 million with significant numbers of Gujarati in more than 24 countries.  In Malaysia there are more than 26,000 Gujarati.  Generally they are business people and as a group seem to prosper wherever they go.  It is believed that Gujarati Muslims may have brought Islam to Malaysia 750 years ago.

Most Gujarati in Malaysia today are Hindus.  They are traders and business people tending to establish their homes and lives in the large cities in Malaysia, and they are usually quite prosperous.

In Malaysia, there are a few Christians, about 0.6% according to The Joshua Project data.   There is a good translation of the bible in the Gujarati language that was finished in 2005, pray that copies become available to the people.

Pray that the few Gujarati Christians who know Christ will be filled with the Holy Spirit and boldly witness to their friends and families.  Pray that a strong Gujarati church is planted in every large city in Malaysia that will be a lighthouse for the gospel for the area.  Pray for dreams and visions to open the hearts and minds of the Gujarati people.  Pray for miracles and signs to accompany the sharing of the good news.  Pray for the Lord of the Harvest to send a team of church planters to establish churches among the Gujarati in Malaysia.
