Singapore is one of man's latest attempts to produce
the perfect society. Personal freedom and individualism are sacrificed for the good
of society according to the dictates of the government, which at this time is benevolent.
Public proclamation of religious beliefs is restricted to preserve harmony between
religions and all religions are required to stay out of politics. Still, there is
religious freedom, and missionaries do live and work openly here. In addition,
Singapore sends more than 500 missionaries to other countries.
The church has grown well here, and is completing
the Great Commission. All of the unreached groups on the island are parts of larger
groups in Malaysia, Indonesia, and India. Perhaps planting churches among the
Singapore groups would be a good way to begin to impact those larger groups in their
native countries...?
Our prayer for Singapore: "Father, man
has always tried to be perfect in his own strength, and Singapore is trying hard to be the
perfect man made society. We know it is hollow and will one day crumble, but the
people believe the lie today. Father, show them the folly of their ways and draw
them to Jesus."
Jesus, You died for Singaporeans just as much as for
us. Please let Your gospel go forth all over that island, into every flat in every
apartment house. Send the Holy Spirit with convicting power and raise up
workers for a harvest of souls. Revive Your church and use her to further glorify
the Father. Thank You, Jesus, for all the saints in Singapore, and for all who will
come to You in the future, in Your Name we pray. Amen."
