Vietnam is one of the few communist countries left.
All open foreign mission work was stopped in 1975, and great hardship on the church
has been the norm since
the end of the Vietnam war. At great price, a triumphant, strong, enduring church has
emerged, even though the suffering continues and the persecution never seems to
stop.
There is a gradual opening up of the country to the
outside world, and opportunities are beginning to develop. Short term visits are
possible, and who knows how God might be preparing for long term work. Many
Vietnamese Christians live in the USA. Perhaps there is some way they could begin to
get the Word back to the land of their birth...
Our prayer for Vietnam: "Father, forgive
us for the wrong things the west did in Vietnam during the years of war.
Forgive the people of Vietnam for the wrongs they committed as well. Have mercy on the people there, Lord,
pour out your spirit on Vietnam and prepare the way for the marvelous seed of
the gospel. Raise up your sons and daughters there in holy boldness, send
them forth to evangelize and plant churches among their own people. They have suffered so much,
and Satan has them bound in poverty and darkness."
"Jesus, You died to liberate prisoners
everywhere, send more workers to tell those bound by Satan in Vietnam that they can be free.
Prepare their hearts to believe it. Send Your Holy Spirit to convict those
who need You so much, and to encourage and empower Your people in the church of Vietnam.
Thank You so very much, Jesus, in Your Name we pray. Amen."
